Compelo Data Visualiser/Designer
A unique opportunity to operate at the cutting edge of high-visibility sports data visualisation for the media sector.
As Compelo’s data visualiser and designer, you will lead the way in translating sports performance data into easily understood graphical insight for consumption on mobile devices, online and in print publications by both trade and consumer audiences.
Your typical output will span static output such as sports infographics for use by newspapers to defining dashboard layouts for commentator and pundit apps in the digital environment.
You will lead the development of Compelo’s visual language, ensuring that the business is noted for its leading approach to data visualisation and the delivery of simple and clear sports narrative in a graphical context.
Your design skills will be multi-faceted and working with Compelo’s agencies, you will take lead responsibility for output ranging from cascading style sheets for web application to use of Adobe DPS to deliver content to Newsstand and apps.
In the first instance, you will be visualising performance metrics for Formula One and other forms of international motorsport to bring alive the respective performance of drivers and teams and the particular qualities of venues. In time, there is opportunity to expand into other international sporting categories ranging from cycling to sailing.
You will work hand-in-hand with two key groups – Compelo’s analysts who generate the raw data, and our editorial team who will provide the Compelo knowledge to inform the visualisations.
On some occasions, you will also work in tandem with our publishing and design colleagues at Progressive Media International –publishers of titles including FX and Blueprint magazine to the New Statesman – in order to artwork and deliver both printed and digital reports and magazines.

Who are you?
?Aside from your professional and academic qualifications that should include a degree in art/graphic design or similar fields, you’ll have an eye for typography, layout, space, and the value of consistency of visual language.
How Do We Work?
- Full-time Mondays to Fridays 39hrs a week, with 20 days of annual leave and lieu days for any weekend days worked by agreement
- Holidays typically are encouraged out of core motorsport season, providing three weeks of clear holiday time in August and additional preferred holiday time at Christmas
- All employees are eligible to join the company private medical health scheme
